Bathery & Spa
The Bathery & Spa at The Farm at Natchez Trace is a first for the Middle Tennessee area. For the first time canine massage therapy is available in the same manner as bathery services – simply make an appointment with Guest Services and bring your pet in for a massage. We “parents” have been able to take care of our aching muscles for years, now we can do the same for our deserving four-legged family members. Massages will of course continue to be available for scheduling during our guests’ overnight lodging stays as well.
CANINE MASSAGE WHO BENEFITS: Therapeutic massage benefits elderly dogs with arthritic conditions, dogs suffering from anxiety, and dogs recovering from injury, aiding in both physical and emotional healing by increasing circulation to tissues and relaxing tension, among other benefits. From the serious agility competitor to the shy rescue dog or new puppy with separation anxiety, all dogs can benefit from positive touch.
TYPES OF MASSAGE: Several different types of massage are available, both muscular in scope as well as energetic. Massages include: ANXIETY - Helpful for separation anxiety and nervousness. Balance is brought to the nervous system reducing emotional and physical stress. ARTHRITIC/GERIATRIC – Beneficial for dogs in their “golden years,” provides relief from arthritis and rheumatism. Highly effective in reducing pain and muscle tension, increases muscle tone, circulation, flexibility, and slows the degenerative process. PUPPY - Aids in physical and social development. Builds confidence and self-awareness. Releases tension decreasing hyperactivity, tendency to bark and chewing. SPORTS - Specifically tailored for athletes, stretching and invigorating neuromuscular work which helps prevents injuries, reduces soreness and improves performance allowing all breeds to reach their maximum athletic potential. WELLNESS - To achieve complete balance, flexibility, improved immune system and optimal health. Enhances oxygen flow in the blood, rids muscles of toxins, flushes body tissues and lymph nodes of lactic and uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. Attention is focused on fascia, connective tissue, muscles and all body systems. BENEFITS OF MASSAGE: Massage reduces stress, relaxes the body, promotes healthier tissue and organs, relieves pain, increases circulation and promotes healing. A certified canine massage practitioner is on staff at The Farm, ready to customize a massage for your dog in a relaxing and peaceful environment.
BATHERY
An alternative to traditional chemically derived dog-grooming products, Pet Aromatics uses only plant based cleaners, including almond oil, macadamia nut oil, cucumber extract, oat flower protein and pro-vitamin B5 conditioning agents. The shampoos and conditioners contain natural substances such as eucalyptus, lemon grass and Mediterranean rosemary, which help to repel ticks and fleas naturally. Lavender and peppermint are among the ingredients included which help relieve itching. The scents offered in the Bathery & Spa are Honeysuckle Hound, Woodsy Woof, Canine Coconut, Dew Drop Doggie, and Rose Petal Pooch.
Bathery & Spa services are available by appointment for overnight lodging guests, “Dog’s Day Out” Day Camp guests, or for “outside” clients who want only bathery or massage services. BATHERY & SPA SERVICES: Our bathery services include a bath with our Hydro-Surge massaging bath system using Pet Aromatics shampoo and conditioner, hand blow drying, brush out, ear cleaning, and nail trim. Anal glands will be expressed on request. Additional services available are teeth brushing, deshedding (removing the undercoat,) trimming (feet, feathers, and sanitary trims,) dematting, and shave downs. Prices for bathery services vary based on breed, size and temperament. Canine therapeutic massages are $40.00 per session. Call The Farm for Bathery & Spa appointments at 615-662-6628.
