F.A.Q.

Q: What is the difference between the two package options for my cat?

A: The Farm V.I.P offers an additional Playtime with a handler as well as the Armchair Cuddle and Playroom Time offered in the Original package. At only $12 more, this is excellent value and is highly recommended for people-friendly, fun-loving cats!

Q: I’m not sure my cat will like being cuddled!

A: Most love the attention and, once they get over any initial shyness, are happy to accommodate themselves to our laps and our playroom “jungle gym”! Rest assured, however, that we are aware of each guest’s individuality and would never insist that a cat come out to play or be petted. Our handlers are experienced in reassuring skeptical cats and will take the extra time to make sure we meet their needs.

Q: Are our pets supervised overnight?

A:  Yes! One of the factors that sets us apart is that we have staff on duty 24/7.  Our Overnight Supervisors work from 11pm until 7:30am and make rounds throughout the night, monitoring every guest. Their primary responsibility is ensuring that every pet is comfortable and secure through the night. Should any emergency arise in the middle of the night, the Overnight Supervisor is on hand and can resolve it swiftly.

Q: Can you accommodate my cat’s specialized medication regimen?

A: Most probably, yes. Please give us a call ahead of time to discuss exactly what your pet will need. We will also be happy to consult with your vet if and as required.

Q: Can my cat play with other cats?

A: No, we do not offer any interaction with other cats at The Farm unless they are in the same family. If you have more than one cat, it’s up to you whether they get playroom time together (as a family) or individually.

Q: Can I bring my cat for a groom or bath?

A: Currently we don’t have a cat groomer but we are offering baths for cats that are tolerant of the process.

Q: Do you have transportation services? Can you pick my pet up from my home?

A: Not yet (sorry!)

Q: What personal things can I bring with my pet?

A:  Favorite things: You are welcome to bring toys and treats for your kitty.

Food: If you are bringing small amounts or are pre-portioning food, please provide those meals in disposable containers such as ziplock bags. We are not able to return bowls or Tupperware.

Medications: Please bring your pet’s medications in commercial packaging/original pharmacy bottles with labels providing full information on the contents. Please don’t send your medications in daily pill organizers.

Forget something? Our on-site THR!VE Market offers a selection of cat treats for your discerning feline.

Q: Do I need to bring a bed?home-6

A: No, although you are welcome to bring one if you like. Each cat is provided with a soft blanket and a Kitty Cube.

Q: Do I need to bring a carrier for my cat?

A: ABSOLUTELY yes! It is required that your cat be brought to and from The Farm in a safe and size-appropriate cat carrier. We can store the carrier at The Farm while your cat is visiting.

Q: Will my cat share a room with another cat?

A: No. Each cat has his/her own condo. In the case of families, the owner has the option as to whether the cats should board in the same condo or separately. There is a limit of two cats per condo.

Q: Do you have web cams?

A: No. We have yet to determine a need for that level of surveillance given our unusually high staff to pet ratio and the fact that we have round-the-clock care-givers working under experienced management.

Q: Can my cat ever go outside?

A: No. Each 5-level condo provides ample opportunity for exercise and the floor-to-ceiling window allows each cat to keep an eye on the neighborhood (in safety!). Our feline guests leave their condos only for scheduled activities such as Playtimes in our spacious Kitty Jungle Gym and Playroom area or Armchair Cuddles. They never leave the Cat Cottage.

Q: Can my dog and cat board together or visit together while boarding?

A: Unfortunately not. We understand how nice it would be to provide this option but we have yet to come up with a way of accommodating this safely. Having separate buildings for our canine and feline guests solves a lot of problems encountered elsewhere, but not this one!

Q: What is Capstar and why is it given to every pet boarding at The Farm?

A:  Capstar is a flea killer. Universal administration minimizes any chance that your pet will be exposed to fleas, both in the facility and through transmission from other dogs or cats. As it is administered orally, it does not  conflict with your pet’s regular flea preventative. For further information click here.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

A: For much of the calendar year, a reservation requires a deposit equal to one night’s stay, and we ask you give us a 3-day notice of cancellation for that deposit to be refunded.

For Holiday/High-Demand periods, such as Spring Break or Thanksgiving, we take a 50% deposit. This is refundable ONLY with 30 days’ notice

Q: What are the Holiday/High Demand periods?

Holiday & High Demand periods can be viewed by clicking here.

Q: What are drop off and pick up times?

A: You can Check-In any time before 5pm. Pets – especially first-timers – will benefit from an earlier drop-off so they have time to get settled before dinner and bedtime. Check-out time daily is 1:00pm. You are welcome to pick up your pets from 1pm until 6pm but please be advised that there will be a late fee.

Q: What are your late fees?

A: Late fees apply to check-outs after 1pm on any day. The fee is equal to one night’s boarding rate.
