F.A.Q.

Q: What is the difference between the two package options for my cat?

A: The Farm V.I.P offers an additional Playtime with a handler as well as the Armchair Cuddle and Playroom Time offered in the Original package. At only $10 more, this is excellent value and is highly recommended for people-friendly, fun-loving cats!

Q: Are you taking special precautions for cats during the pandemic?

A:  Yes. The Farm continues to offer services needed by our clients while maintaining the safest environment possible (https://thefarmatnatcheztrace.com/covid-19-updates/). There are very few known cases of cats being susceptible to Covid-19 but scientists continue to research whether cats may have greater susceptibility than dogs. Accordingly, the Management Team at The Farm has elected to institute an even higher level of precautionary care for our feline guests (housed separately in the Cat Cottage). Specifically:

  • The Cat Grooming Salon is currently closed.
  • Feline daycare has been temporarily suspended.
  • Cats are assigned condos a minimum of three feet from one another.
  • The Playroom, normally enjoyed by all feline guests, is no longer available to boarding guests.
  • (As has always been the case) The Farm’s 100% fresh air HVAC system does not recirculate/recycle air in our buildings

Q: I’m not sure my cat will like being cuddled!

A: Most love the attention and, once they get over any initial shyness, are happy to accommodate themselves to our laps and our playroom “jungle gym”! Rest assured, however, that we are aware of each guest’s individuality and would never insist that a cat come out to play or be petted. Our handlers are experienced in reassuring skeptical cats and will take the extra time to make sure we meet their needs.

Q: Are our pets supervised overnight?

A:  Yes! The Farm is the only facility in middle Tennessee to provide 24-hour care to your pet. Our Overnight Supervisors work from 11pm until 7:30am and make rounds throughout the night, monitoring every guest. Their primary responsibility is ensuring that every pet is comfortable and secure through the night. Should any emergency arise in the middle of the night, the Overnight Supervisor is on hand and can resolve it swiftly.

Q: Can you accommodate my cat’s specialized medication regimen?

A: Most probably, yes. Please give us a call ahead of time to discuss exactly what your pet will need. We will also be happy to consult with your vet if and as required.

Q: Can my cat play with other cats?

A: No, we do not offer any interaction with other cats at The Farm unless they are in the same family. If you have more than one cat, it’s up to you whether they get playroom time together (as a family) or individually.

Q: Can I bring my pet any day for a groom or bath?

A: Baths can be scheduled every day. Grooms (haircuts) can be scheduled Tuesday-Saturday. All Salon clients will be advised specifically on the best time for your appointment when you call to book.

Q: Do you groom cats?

A:  Yes, we are happy to bathe and/or groom your cat in our special “Cats Only!” Salon which is located within the Cat Cottage. Cats will do better without the added stress of  proximity to dogs. If your cat has a history of being less-than-cooperative in the grooming situation, please discuss with us before making the reservation. Some cats are simply intolerant of the process and may not be suitable candidates for The Salon.

Q: Do you have transportation services? Can you pick my pet up from my home?

A: Not yet (sorry!)

Q: What personal things can I bring with my pet?

A: Under normal circumstances, we welcome personal belongings like favorite toys. However, as of March 2020 and in accordance with our policies to protect our staff and clients from surface contamination, we are limiting personal belongings to food and medications, which should be packaged in hard-surface (eg hard plastic) containers. If your cat really enjoys having a toy to play we can provide brand new toys and treats from our in-house THR!VE market, or you can send new toys in their original packaging.

Q: Do I need to bring a bed?home-6

A: No, although you are welcome to bring one if you like. Each cat is provided with a soft blanket and a Kitty Cube.

Q: Do I need to bring a carrier for my cat?

A: It is required that your cat be brought to and from The Farm in a safe and size-appropriate cat carrier. We can store the carrier at The Farm while your cat is visiting.

Q: Will my cat share a room with another cat?

A: No. Each cat has his/her own condo. In the case of families, the owner has the option as to whether the cats should board in the same condo or separately. There is a limit of two cats per condo.

Q: Do you have web cams?

A: No. We have yet to determine a need for that level of surveillance given our unusually high staff to pet ratio and the fact that we have round-the-clock care-givers working under experienced management. Our staff features a full-time Pet Concierge whose sole responsibility is to ensure that all pets are happy and comfortable throughout their stay, and she can be directly contacted via cell phone or email for a detailed update on your pet.

Q: Are there any bath discounts for cats staying overnight?

A: We offer a 10% discount on baths for our overnight guests.

Q: Can my cat ever go outside?

A: No. Each 5-level condo provides ample opportunity for exercise and the floor-to-ceiling window allows each cat to keep an eye on the neighborhood (in safety!). Our feline guests leave their condos only for scheduled activities such as Playtimes in our spacious Kitty Jungle Gym and Playroom area or Armchair Cuddles. They never leave the Cat Cottage.

Q: Can my dog and cat board together or visit together while boarding?

A: Unfortunately not. We understand how nice it would be to provide this option but we have yet to come up with a way of accommodating this safely. Having separate buildings for our canine and feline guests solves a lot of problems encountered elsewhere, but not this one!

Q: What is Capstar and why is it given to every pet boarding at The Farm?

A:  Capstar is a flea killer. Universal administration minimizes any chance that your pet will be exposed to fleas, both in the facility and through transmission from other dogs or cats. As it is administered orally, it does not  conflict with your pet’s regular flea preventative. For further information click here.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

A: Under normal circumstances, a reservation for a cat requires a deposit of $30 and we ask you give us 24-hour notice of cancellation so that we can refund that deposit. Notice received less than 24-hours before the date/time of arrival results in forfeiture of the deposit. For a dog, the deposit is $50.

For Holiday/High-Demand periods, such as Spring Break or Thanksgiving, we take a deposit equal to 50% of the basic overnight package for each night booked. This is refundable ONLY with 30 days notice.

e.g: a reservation for 1 dog and 1 cat for the period Dec. 21 – Dec. 31 would require we take a deposit of $375 for the dog (50% of $75 x 10) and $210 for the cat (50% of $42 x 10). Your cancellation for the night of Dec. 21st must be received by November 21st in order for that night’s deposit to be refunded.

Q: What are the Holiday/High Demand periods?

Holiday & High Demand periods can be viewed by clicking here.

Q: What are drop off and pick up times?

A: You can Check-In any time before 5pm. Pets – especially first-timers – will benefit from an earlier drop-off so they have time to get settled before dinner and bedtime. Check-out time daily is 1:00pm. You are welcome to pick up your pets from 1pm until 6pm but please be advised that there will be a late fee.

Q: What are your late fees?

A: Late fees apply to check-outs after 1pm on any day. The fee is equal to one night’s boarding rate.
