Sophie Russell is a very special girl at The Farm: she is our first Cavanese (King Charles Cavalier X Havanese) and, in fact, is our only one to date! She is easy to spot when playing with her friends – she’s the whirlwind leading the pack and getting everyone to chase her. That’s Sophie’s idea of the best fun!
Sophie lives in Nashville with Anne and Joe Russell who describe her as playful and mischievous. The Russells did a lot of research before deciding on the particular breed and on a Texas breeder. Now 2-years old, Sophie is a good addition to the family. She is gentle and cuddly, healthy, and energetic – and she doesn’t shed. She is also remarkable in that she puts herself to bed (with her stuffed bunny and blanket) about 8 at night and sleeps 12 hours. She does not like being out in the rain but she does like her raincoat!
The Russells report that naming the new puppy was a family affair: “We had a list of names and the entire family weighed in on which one fit her. Our little baby granddaughter calls her “Soakie” when playing fetch with her.”
At home in Nashville, Sophie is the “head of the squirrel patrol” in the big backyard and, with that speed and accuracy, we doubt the Russells are much bothered by squirrels anymore. She also enjoys playing fetch with a whiffle ball and gets very excited when she pulls up to The Farm to come stay with us. While at The Farm, Sophie loves her Nature Walks and her Tuck-Ins at Night but she particularly enjoys playing with friends –special among them Gracie, the Miniature Poodle, and Rowdy, the Havanese.
The Russells remember a favorite photo from The Farm: “Her funniest photo is when she met a boyfriend at the farm (Rowdy) and she had a huge smile while playing with him!! It is good to know how happy she is while at the Farm!!”
